Imation expands portfolio to support small and medium business backup requirements

OAKDALE, Minn. (July 13, 2004) – Imation Corp
(NYSE: IMN), a worldwide leader in removable data storage media, today
announced the availability of its Imation DAT 72 Data Cartridge. With
72GB of capacity (36GB native with 2:1 compression) and 3MB/second transfer
rates, the DAT 72 data cartridges are an effective and affordable solution
for small and medium sized business users.
“Since most small businesses have less than 100GB of data to backup
on a regular basis, we believe the media capacity and transfer rate
of DAT 72 data cartridges provides a powerful tape storage solution
for the fast growing small and mid-sized server markets,” said
Nancy Tan, Managing Director, South Asia Region, Imation Singapore Pte
Ltd. “Imation is committed to delivering the broadest portfolio
of removable data storage media. The addition of DAT 72 complements
Imation’s 4mm DDS product line and highlights our commitment to
this important business segment.”
The 4mm DDS 125 and DDS 150 cartridges are also compatible with DAT
72 tape drives allowing companies to maximize previous investments made
in the popular 4mm formats, as well as benefit from the increased capacities
offered by DAT 72 tape.
Imation has been a leading manufacturer of tape media products for more
than 50 years, offering a complete line of magnetic tape and optical
products for backup, data protection and long-term archival applications
that are designed to meet the data storage needs of small businesses.
