Bring Hope to Reformed Offenders, Buy An Imation "Yellow Ribbon" CD

Singapore (October 12, 2006) - Imation Singapore Pte Ltd – head office of the South Asia Region and a subsidiary of Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN) - a worldwide leader in removable data storage media, does its part for charity with its initiatives with the “Yellow Ribbon” and “YMCA-Citibank Youth For Causes 2006!” Projects.

"In celebration of our 10th anniversary as an independent company since our spun-off from 3M Imaging & Information business in 1996, Imation is pleased to contribute to the community through our involvement with the Yellow Ribbon and Youth for Causes projects," said Nancy Tan, managing director, Imation South Asia Region. “Through our humble efforts, we hope to bring some hope and joy to their lives”.

  • Yellow Ribbon Project (http://www.yellowribbon.org.sg)
Imation has joined hands with the Yellow Ribbon Project organizers (CARE Network) to create opportunities for reformed offenders and their families to start life afresh.

A Yellow Ribbon CD was specially designed by inmate and manufactured by Imation.  The graphic on the bright yellow CD shows a hand reaching out to touch the lives of those around. This CD is now available for sales at POPULAR bookstores in Singapore, while stocks last. For every 10pc pack of Yellow Ribbon CD (SRP S$3.90) sold, Imation and POPULAR Bookstore will jointly contribute 5% of the sales (S$0.20) to the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

Imation sponsored 1,000pcs of its CD-R for the construction of the “Pillar of Hope” to raise fund for the We-sharecare Society For Children & Youth (Singapore).  With every donation, donors penned their well wishes and messages on the CD-R. These autographed CDs were then assembled and constructed into a pillar-like structure “Pillar of Hope”.  As the name suggests, The Pillar of Hope symbolizes that the children and youth are the pillar of our nation.

Some of the encouraging messages included:

“When there is the will, any difficulty can be overcome”
Mr. Wong Kan Seng
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Home Affairs & Leader of the House

“With best wishes to all those engaged in this event for needy children”
“With my best wishes to all here supporting this event for needy children”
Prof S Jayakumar
Deputy Prime Minister, Co-ordinating Minister for National Security & Minister for Law

“You are not alone; there are many willing to help”
Mr. Khaw Boon Wan
Minister for Health

“When I was a kid, the story of the Ugly Duckling told me that no matter how poor, one day I can achieve – become a swan!”
Mr. Lim Boon Heng
Minister, Prime Minister’s Office

“Life is for living. Let’s live it to the fullest!”
Mr. Lim Swee Say
Minister, Prime Minister's Office & Deputy Government Whip

“A pillar needs strong foundations. You are part of that foundation!”
Mr. Mah Bow Tan
Minister for National Development & Deputy Leader of the House

You can read these and other well wishes at the We-sharecare Society For Children & Youth (Singapore).

In 2005, Imation supported the Singapore Zoo Wildlife Conservation Efforts through a series of initiatives including (but not limited to) donation through sales proceeds. In appreciation of its efforts and a continuity of the joint partnership between Imation and the Singapore Zoo, Imation has graciously adopted “Satria”, an Orang Utan. Catch Satria’s live in action at the “Wonders of the Wild” show at the Singapore Zoo.
