Imation Introduces 3 New Double Layer Burners To Its Range of DVD Drives

Burns double the data on one disc with Double Layer DVD technology

Singapore (October 28, 2004) - Imation Singapore Pte Ltd – head office of the South Asia Region, and a subsidiary of Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN) - a worldwide leader in removable data storage media, today announced the availability of 3 new double layer burners: the internal 16x DVD +/- RW burner, the very portable slim external 8x DVD +/- RW burner and the external 16x DVD +/-RW burner.

The new Imation double layer burners allow users to save 8.5 GB of data on a DVD disc, which equates to four hours of DVD-quality video, 16 hours of VHS-quality video, or 2,000 songs, without needing to turn it over. Users can easily store important personal and business data, from home movies, music, photographs to backups of important files, applications, presentations and reports within minutes.

For better performance, reliability and speed of disc burning, the new Imation burners are equipped with special features:

• SMART-BURN: Avoid buffer under run error, automatically adjust writing strategy and running OPC to provide the best burning quality
• SMART-X: Adjusts CD-DA/VCD/DVD data extraction to a fastest allowable speed according to both data request rate from host and disk quality
• VAS (Vibration Absorber System): Reduce vibration and noise during recording and reading
